3 Day Getaway: San Francisco

One of the  (not-so-many) positive things about having a husband that travels for work in consulting is getting to travel a lot too. Tomas is currently on an assignment in Sacramento, so this weekend instead of him flying back to Cincinnati, I flew to CA and we spent the weekend in San Francisco, which is my favorite city EVER.

I arrive on Friday afternoon and we spent the evening watching movies in bed but woke up bright and early on Saturday to drive to SF. First thing we did when we got to San Francisco was visit the San Francisco Zoo (crossed another zoo off our bucket list).

After walking around the zoo for a couple of hours we headed for lunch at Pearl's Deluxe Burgers. I lived across the street from Pearl's when I worked at UCSF for a couple of months in 2010 and had been dying to go back. We met up with Omar, an old friend from high school, how had just moved to SF and who I hadn't seen in years.

We headed to Sacramento pretty early to get a good night sleep because on Sunday morning we were headed to Alcatraz. Another thing I never did while living in San Francisco was visit this prison, since it usually sells out weeks in advance.

This time I was proactive and booked the Alcatraz tour tickets about a month ago.

We spent almost 4 hours at Alcatraz and when we left around 2pm we were starving. We couldn't leave SF without having a  bit of clam chowder in a Boudin bread bowl and also buying loaves of sourdough to take back home.

A quick stop for some chocolate and it was off to the airport to say goodbye to the weekend, SF and my hubby. It was good to go back even for a little while.
